New EU Batteries Regulation takes effect

Parts of the new Batteries Regulation came into force this month. The Regulation is long and complicated with a number of changes coming in at different dates. The BTHA has produced a fact sheet for toy companies to help compliance in this area. Toys are usually under scope of the Regulation when they are imported with batteries already installed. UK companies will not be importers into the EU but their customers might be and will need the information required as well. The fact sheet covers obligations of Economic Operators with specific focus on Importers, key changes for batteries and products, a transition date list plus a labelling and required documents summary.

Full members can view and download the fact sheet.
