BTHA members are reminded it is the final countdown until the new product security regulations come into force at the end of April.

The Product Security & Telecommunications Infrastructure (Product Security) Regime in the UK

The Product Security & Telecommunications Infrastructure (Security Requirements for Relevant Connectable Products) Regulations 2023 apply to relevant internet connectable products and come into force on 29th April 2024. At that date, all products will be affected immediately whether they are placed on the market or not. As this is very difficult for many members the BTHA have been talking with the Office for Product Safety & Standards (OPSS) who will be enforcing the regulation. They have confirmed that whilst the key security requirements must be complied with, they do understand that many companies may not have other things in place (such as the requirement for a Statement of Compliance accompanying the product).

Following our meeting with OPSS, we have amended the fact sheet to include a new section 11 which gives members advice for compliance and enforcement actions.

The fact sheet can be viewed and downloaded by full BTHA members.
