Compliance Strategies

When placing toys on the market, Manufacturers shall ensure they have been designed and manufactured in accordance with the requirements set out in the Toys Safety Directive for the EU and the Toys (Safety) Regulations for GB. In order to determine and meet the chemical compliance requirements, manufacturers are obliged to carry out a Conformity Assessment and a Safety Assessment.

Both the Toy Safety Directive and the Toys (Safety) Regulations state the following:

Manufacturers shall, before placing a toy on the market, carry out an analysis of the chemical, physical, mechanical, electrical, flammability, hygiene and radioactivity hazards that the toy may present, as well as an assessment of the potential exposure to such hazards

This document outlines some approaches that can be taken to demonstrate compliance with the chemical requirements of the Toy Safety Directive and Toys (Safety) Regulations (including those identified from the Safety Assessment).
