Delegated Regulation (EU) 2024/2555 amending the Persistent Organic Pollutants Regulation was published in the Official Journal on 27th September 2024. The Regulation enters into force on 17th October 2024.

HBCDD was already restricted under the Persistent Organic Pollutants Regulation at a concentration of 100 mg/kg. This limit will now be lowered to 75 mg/kg in substances, mixtures, articles or as constituents of flame-retarded articles.

It is not expected that the lowering of the limit will have a major impact, however it is recommended that existing test reports should be reviewed to ensure that products with borderline compliance under the existing regulation will meet the new requirements.
