BECOMING A MEMBER
 

There are three main requirements for membership of the Association:
The applicant:

  • Must be involved in the British toy and hobby industry.
  • Must have a UK trading office.
  • Only deals in products which conform to  EN 71.
    Samples are to be accompanied by recent (i.e. less than one year old) copies of certificates from testing laboratories.

There are two categories of membership:

Full Membership


Full membership is open to persons, firms or companies with an office in the UK being suppliers of products or services related to the toy and hobby industry whose standing in the United Kingdom is such as in the opinion of Council to render them eligible for membership of the Association. Full members are entitled to vote at the Association's AGM. Applications are welcome from full members to become part of the Association's prestigious Lion Mark scheme. Full members pay a subscription fee according to their  UK  toy-related turnover for the last twelve month financial period. Consequently they are entitled to a 20% discount on space taken at the Toy Fair at Olympia, London, provided they are accepted into membership no later than the first BTHA Council meeting of the previous year and are in membership at the time of the toy fair and for the remainder of that previous year, ie they have membership for the nine months prior to the Toy Fair.

Associates


Associate membership is available to persons, firms or companies not falling within the full member specification detailed above.

Associate Membership is not open to companies that manufacture or supply toys.
